Choosing The Right Barbecue Covers

Choosing The Right Barbecue Covers

Article by Harry Intrim

Barbecue, like apple pie, is an all-American favorite. Enjoyed since the 1950′s, thoughts of backyard barbecues bring back memories of fresh cut summer grass, Dad’s juicy burgers, and Mom’s delicious potato salad and fruity punch, of friends and family sitting around the picnic table, munching on savory hot dogs, fresh and juicy from that beautiful grill that sat there faithfully, year after year.

That fresh summery taste of grilled food didn’t just happen on its own. Dad had to take good care of that grill, cleaned after each use, with the barbecue cover tucking in the barbecue for the evening, keeping out harsh elements and insects looking for a new home. Putting that cover on was a smart decision. Without it, the knobs on it might be accidentally turned. With these lessons in mind, Dad probably would recommend that you use a grill cover too.

The two main purposes of barbecue covers are protection of the grill and safety. Barbecue grills can cost as much as, or sometimes more, than a regular indoor stove. There’s no price on safety.

When shopping for barbecue covers, don’t skimp on quality. Look for barbecue covers made of sturdy, waterproof material which fits the size of your grill and is heavy enough to provide protection from heat and cold.

As for protection, grills often have an attractive, super shiny finish in them. Scratches on the enamel finish can be avoided with a good quality cover. Use the cover whenever the barbecue is not in use. Overhead flying feathered friends may deposit droppings on your barbecue while you’re not looking, an unattractive start when you’re getting ready to cook up a big juicy burger!

Barbecue covers are an important safety measure. Children are especially playful during the summer and curius year around. They may be enticed by knobs and controls, accidentally turning on the barbecue. This can cause propane leaks and fire hazards. When not in use, a grill with a cover helps deter these mishaps.

After summer is over, and the barbecue retires to its humble spot behind the house, it shouldn’t be left bare. During the off-season, while the barbecue hibernates, waiting for its next assignment, insects tend to nest in this little abode. After summer, wasps have a habit of nesting inside, providing a shock for the owner when he opens it up next year. Barbecue covers also prevent insects from crawling into and dying in your grill, so it will be just as clean as the last time you used it.

Be sure barbecue covers are flame retardant, so in the event that the grill was inadvertantly left on, your barbecue cover might save your life by smothering out the fire. This is no excuse for leaving the propane on. Even with a barbecue cover, proper safety measures should always be taken.

Fire Up An Electric Smoker For Barbecue Done Right

Fire Up An Electric Smoker For Barbecue Done Right

Article by Alexander Sutton

How many of you think of electricity being involved in the true mastering of barbecued delights? There is a good chance that few of you ever think of this seemingly unique partnership. However, you are definitely missing out on a whole new level of barbecuing if you fail to look into the latest options for this fun style of barbecue. Specifically, there is a very nice variety of electric smokers that make it surprisingly easy to accomplish some absolutely delicious treats that you will have you and your guests licking your chops for more and more.

First, it should definitely be noted that one of the most popular benefits regarding the different types of electric smoker models that are now available is that you get to have full control over the internal temperature of your smoker. While many of today’s best barbecue setups do feature functionality that supports a relatively consistent internal temperature, these electric smokers far surpass the standard temperature control capabilities. With these electric models of smokers, all you have to do is set the smoker’s convenient thermostat feature to the exact temperature that you would like it to maintain and simply let it do the rest. This feature alone has proven to be more than worth the purchase price because it helps to fee you up, enabling you to easily tend to all of the other goodies that you need to prepare and cook for your barbecue or picnic.

Having said that, there are certain electric smokers which do not actually feature a temperature gage. This is because these specific models of smokers are engineered to heat up to a 250 degree smoking temperature. This provides a very convenient alternative as well because you will not need to make any adjustments while you barbecue. Countless backyard cooks have come to absolutely love this feature since it removes a great deal of the guesswork that is often part of barbecuing. Barbecue enthusiasts are able to enjoy a much more consistent cooking experience thanks to this special design feature. However, if you absolutely must have a greater range of temperature capabilities, then you may wish to opt for a more traditional model of barbecue smoker.

In addition, another very convenient feature that you can look for in some of these electric smoker models is an internal marinade injector, allowing you to keep your meat nice and juicy without having to even open the lid.

Seeking The Right Company To Create A Customized Barbecue Island

Seeking The Right Company To Create A Customized Barbecue Island

BBQ islands are a huge trend right now. Outdoor cooking enthusiasts love the modern looks and convenient features of built in BBQ grills. There are many prefabricated options but some homeowners desire to have custom BBQ islands built specifically for their homes. To do this they must hire a contractor for the job. Building BBQ islands is not typical contracting work, so homeowners must do a little digging to find a quality contractor who is right for the job.

Generally, you want to hire a contractor who specializes in the particular work that you want to have done. However, as mentioned above, building BBQ islands is not a typical job. While some contractors have worked on BBQ islands, many others have not. Just because a contractor has not worked on building outdoor kitchen islands it does not mean that they are not qualified for the job. It just means that you will need to ask more questions to gauge their experience and expertise.

Top 5 Things To Check When Researching Contractors

1. Licenses. Asking for licenses is the very first thing that you should do when researching contractors. It is a must to make sure that the contractor is currently licensed with the state. Also keep in mind that there are different licenses for different tasks, so make sure that the contractor holds all of the appropriate licenses for the job.

]]>

2. Insurance. Asking for proof of insurance is also one of the first things that you must do when researching contractors. Verify that it is current and held within your state. You never want to be left holding the bag if someone gets injured while doing contracting work on your property.

3. Prior Experience. Ask if the contractor has worked on building BBQ islands before. Also ask to see samples of their work. This is important because there are a few contractors who are willing to lie to land jobs. If the contractor has not worked on BBQ Islands before ask them if they have any relevant experience that could be related to building built in BBQ grills. They may have the building know how and expertise to perform the job.

4. References. You should always ask for references. You do not necessarily need to call the references–although it is suggested that you do. This will give you an idea about the rapport that the contractor has with their past clients. If they do not have references, it is best to choose another contractor to work with.

5. BBB profile. It is best to go with a contractor or contracting company that has a BBB profile. In a sense, it means that they have nothing to hide and that they are trying to provide a good service to their clients. You can also see if they have ever had any complaints.

In addition to this, you should always talk to many different contractors. Even if you feel like you’ve found the perfect contractor for the job right off the bat, it is still advised that you talk to many different contractors and feel each one out. This is also helpful when assessing prices. Ask for a free, no obligation proposal from each contractor. The proposal should state the time lines and costs for the project. Having many proposals will help you figure out what the actual price for the job should be.

Select the Right Barbecue Grill

Select the Right Barbecue Grill

It seems like people find entertainment the most in outdoor barbecue. In fact, people love it so much the term barbecue party had been coined. For an outdoor barbecue to be successful, you will need a high quality barbecue grill. But how do you know that a barbecue grill is of high quality?

There are three types of grills that you can choose from. The more widely used are gas and charcoal barbecue grills. So your best bet will be to choose between the two. The first thing you need to consider is the price. Grills come in different sizes, shapes and features, so the more features you want, the higher the price will be. Charcoal grills are relatively cheaper than gas grills.

You should also think about the grill that will suit your needs. If you will only be grilling few meats for several persons, then you can get away with a smaller grill; but if you will be preparing for a bigger group, then you are better off with a bigger grill. Also try finding a grill that has wheels for portability and it’s easy to move.

If you want added features like instant flame and heat control knobs so you won’t need lighting bbq tools, then get ready to shell out more money. You should also decide if you’re okay with waiting for your grill to heat up before you can cook. Charcoal grills take time to heat up while gas grills heat up immediately.

Look for grill that has lid for easier cooking and storing. Also, look for barbecue grills that will require you to clean it easily. Remember, when you buy nonstick grills, bbq tools made of metal cannot be use for cleaning, plastic pads should be used instead so as not to scrape off the nonstick coating.

Both gas barbecue grills and charcoal barbecue grills have their advantages and disadvantages, so it will be really up to you to choose. You figure out what you need, the features and bbq tools that you want to be there, and what you’re willing to endure to know which type is right. Remember, there is no point in purchasing a grill that does not suit your needs. So take some time to learn the differences in barbecue grills before purchasing one.

Gas, Charcoal or Electric? Which Barbecue is Right for You

Gas, Charcoal or Electric? Which Barbecue is Right for You

When it comes to grilling, everyone has their own favorite way to do things. Men become master chefs when they light up their barbecues and women love having the night off from cooking. If you are new to this type of cooking, check out grills from stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and ShoppersChoice.com. If you are confused about which is best–electric, charcoal or gas–check out the pros and the cons of each below to help you decide which is best for you.

Electric Grill

An electric one can be used inside the home; it is safe and offers less mess than other types. The advantages of these are that they are easy to use, easy to clean up and can be used indoors. Other than that, they really don’t offer any real advantage for flavor or smoked flavored meats. You will get those grill marks on the food and of course it is a healthier way to prepare your food instead of frying or even baking. If you do little grilling and want something you can use inside the home, then this is your best choice. But, if you are looking to cook outdoors and want some real flavor, this may not be suited for your needs. These are also pretty small and unless you are just cooking for a few people, there will not be much room for you to prepare a feast for friends and family.

Charcoal Grill

This is a favorite amongst masters; they love the taste and the flavors that the charcoal adds to the foods. Many times wood chips are added to give a smoked flavor that is cooked directly into the meats. The main advantage is flavor; other than that, they can be hard to light, hard to regulate an even temperature, and require you to purchase lighter fluid and charcoal before you can use them. Most charcoal grills offer adequate space to prepare meals for small to medium size groups, but if you are cooking for a large group, you may be spending more time at your grill than socializing.

Gas Grill

This has become very popular because of its easy to use features and large space. If you are entertaining a small group or a large group, your gas cooker will accommodate the crowd. The easy push start ignite buttons allow you to begin cooking instantly. The surface heats up quickly and you can regulate the flame for an even temperature. The main downside is that you lose some flavor, there is no charcoal taste, and even though you can add some wood chips to create the smoked flavor, there is no real way to replicate that charcoal taste. You will have to ensure that your propane tank is full and ready to grill. There is nothing worse than inviting over friends for a backyard barbeque and running out of propane.

Grill Like a Master with the Right Barbecue Grill Tools

By: Alexander
Posted: Jan 20, 2010

Sure, a spatula and tongs that are specially designed for grilling are fantastic grill tools. However, you may need more tools than this in order to make your grilling a success. You can also grill different types of food when you have the right tools. For instance, you’d probably never think about grilling shrimp on the grill, but with a grill basket you can do that without the shrimp falling through the grate of the grill or getting too close to the fire.

Make amazing meats and vegetables

At one time it was extremely difficult to grill vegetables on the grill, especially if those vegetables are small enough to fall through the grill grate. For instance, you may want to grill pieces of squash, carrots, cucumbers, and even tomatoes, but they can be extremely difficult to turn on the grill without losing them. This is another great use for a grill basket.

One of the other barbecue grill tools that you need to make amazing meats and vegetables is skewers. You can make meat and vegetable kabobs by lacing bits of meat and vegetables on the skewers and grilling them that way. They can be a delicious treat for everyone to enjoy.

Making your meats work

Of course you know that your meats are the center of your barbecue. There are certain barbecue grill tools that make meats taste even better. Aside from the simple spatula that allows you to flip meat before it burns on one side, you have two-pronged forks that allow you to turn over hot dogs, tongs that can also turn hot dogs and sausages, and you have the meat hook.

If you are not aware of what a meat hook is, it can be used in a number of ways. You can take a slab of meat and attach it to the hook where you can rotate it over the grill. This is a different way to cook meat. You can also use the meat hook to transport meat from one surface to another without having to worry about losing it. The meat is secure on the hook, so you don’t have to worry so much about dropping it.

Keeping foods safe

Having the right barbecue grill tools also means keeping your food safe. First of all, you can ensure that your food is cooked thoroughly. Unfortunately, a lot of food poisoning occurs from undercooked food on a grill. Although you may rely on the “cut and look” method to see if the center of the food is done, you are risking your food falling apart or not seeing clearly whether or not the center of your meat is done. A meat thermometer is ideal to ensure that the center of each item is done. This keeps you from having to slice each and every piece of meat open to see if it is finished. This makes your overall presentation better.

So if you need barbecue grill tools that are effective and safe, you do have plenty of options to enhance your grilling experience. Furthermore, your food will be safer and you will be grilling like the grill master you are.

When buying a Weber BBQ there are a few questions you must to ask yourself:
? Do I prefer the long-established charcoal BBQ or would I rather have the control of a gas barbeque?
? what number of people will i be cooking for on the Weber BBQ?

Weber barbecues owe everything to one man – George Stephen. Born in the 1920s in Chicago, George was to devise a design classic that is still one of the best recognised icons of style and start the biggest backyard revolution the world has ever seen – the kettle BBQ.

Weber Charcoal BBQs
The smallest of the Weber BBQs is the Weber Smokey Joe Premium BBQ It is the authentic iconic kettle barbecue in miniature that is transportable so it may be taken wherever.

The Weber One Touch Original BBQ is larger than the Compact 47 and is one of the most well known Weber BBQs used in the garden. It is a 57cm diameter BBQ that has decay proof vents that regulate the flow of air and a corrosion resistant lid and bowl that is made from ceramic-enameled steel.

How to Choose the Right Barbecue for You

How to Choose the Right Barbecue for You

You’re thinking about purchasing a new grill for summertime grilling where there are several options for sale. Should you choose a new charcoal grill or a new propane gas barbecue?

The choice can be a complicated one. You’ll find both beneficial and undesirable features to both different types of BBQ, and it can help you to decide what those are before making your buying decision.

Propane gas grills are really a common option amongst family cooks. You will find there’s basically no preparation period as you’re able to switch the bbq grill off and on if you choose. They are simply easy to wash and have a relatively extended grilling time, giving the cook nearly nine hours of cooking time with a normal container of propane gas. The primary pitfall with propane gas grills is the price. The bbq grill itself is usually higher in price than charcoal and propane tanks have to be refilled.

Charcoal grills are likely to be well-liked by the barbecue diehards. Quite a few backyard barbecuers think charcoal barbecues are probably the only barbecue grills that could truly be called “barbecues.” They say the taste of grilled food is more desirable with the charcoal cooking strategy. Charcoal Bbqs are generally much less high priced than their propane counterparts and charcoal is typically quite low-priced. Negative aspects of the charcoal Barbecue can include far more difficulty in cleansing and also the cooking time. Charcoal briquettes take time to warm up before having the ability to be used to cook.

The option between the two isn’t always apparent. Some individuals select the propane style BBQs due to the ease of cooking and cleaning. If quality is the most important aspect to consider, the charcoal BBQ may produce a more traditional barbeque taste to cuisine. The initial price of the propane grill is frequently a lot greater than that of the charcoal bbq grill, and recurring gas costs may add up.

No matter which barbecue grill you opt for, give some thought to which could work best for your requirements and your family and which of your issues to consider are most important for you personally.

Barbecue Smokers Grills – How to Choose the Right One For You If You’re Just Starting Out! By Bill Parlaman Article Word Co

Barbecue Smokers Grills – How to Choose the Right One For You If You’re Just Starting Out! By Bill Parlaman Article Word Co

So you’re tired of dropping tons of dough at your local barbecue restaurant and you’re ready to start turning out some tasty barbecue of your own and now you need to figure out how to choose a barbecue smoker grill. Choosing a barbecue smoker grill may seem like a difficult decision but I’m hoping this article will help cut your learning curve so you can make a very informed buying choice.

Now if you’re just smoking meat in your backyard for your family and friends you can use just about any type of grill you want. Heck, you can even use a gas grill! Basically you just need a Barbecue grill that keeps your indirect fire going for a long period of time for your low and slow cooking experience.

So without any further delay, here are some basic barbecue cookers I recommend if you’re just starting out. However, I would also like you to keep in mind when choosing a barbecue smoker these smokers can also be used if you want to enter a barbecue competition.

Kettle Style Charcoal Grill

A Weber Kettle Grill is the most basic tool you can use to smoke meat. However I suggest you purchase the 26 inch model if you can find it because its easier for you to smoke larger cuts of meat. You’ll be using charcoal to start your fire with a couple of your favorite wood chunks thrown in for smoke. You’ll also want to use an aluminum pan on one side or in the center with your charcoal on either side of the pan so your meat is not over the flame. You’ll also want to check out a hinged style cooking grate so you can flip the sides up and easily add additional charcoal or wood chunks to keep your fire going.

Vertical Bullet Style Smoker

I really recommend this little cooker if you’re just starting out but also works great if you are a seasoned pro. The charcoal goes in the bottom third of the cooker in the fire ring with a water pan directly on top. Your food then cooks on two levels in the middle and the top. This smoker grill is very easy to use and it maintains it’s temperatures very well during long cooks. Its perfect if you’re barbecuing for your family in the backyard but you’ll want to buy a few of them if you’re using it as your competition cooker. This goes for all three of these cookers I’m discussing with you.

Electric “Bullet” Smoker

This cooker is very similar to the charcoal type but uses lava rocks instead of charcoal. The lava rocks rest on electric coils which produces the heat. This type of cooker is a little easier to use because you don’t have to worry about tending a “real” fire. You’ll want to soak your wood chips and place them in an aluminum pan so they don’t burn up. Also, you don’t want the wood actually touching the heating coils to produce your smoke.

Remember, these smoker grill suggestions are best used for backyard cooking but you can also use them in a barbecue competition. So there you have it, If you’ve been struggling trying to figure out how to choose a barbecue smoker grill you now have three types of smokers to chose from all under 0.00.
